5 ways to increase positive life energy by reducing clutter

Clutter can be poisonous. If only we take a look, we will be overwhelmed by the amount of junk we have accumulated in our lives - and I don't mean just materials. Clutter drains valuable life energy. It attracts negativity into our minds and lives. In order for positive energy to flow through our lives, we need to take a cold, hard look at our life and de-clutter it. Here are five ideas on bringing the positive energy back to all areas of our lives, by simplifying our life and reducing clutter.

De-clutter your possessions

Are you a pack rat? Do you have things in your "collection" that have long lost their value? Are you the kind that just doesn’t seem to be able to throw things away? In that case, chances are, you must have accumulated a lot of junk. Do some spring cleaning now, never mind the season - get rid of all the unwanted possessions. A good criteria which I have read, goes like this: keep only those that are useful, joyful or beautiful. As for everything else that has ceased to add value to your life, think of them as life energy drains, and get rid of them. Donate them, recycle them, gift them - just make sure it leaves you.

De-clutter your space

Even if you now have a room full of only things you need and love, you would still want to tidy them up. Messy rooms and desk drawers suck positive energy. Arrange everything neatly, and you would be amazed at how good you feel already. I know it might be a Herculean task, but it is well worth it.

De-clutter your contacts

Are there negative people in your life who no longer add value? If so, why are they still in your contact list? Negative people can seriously undermine your mindset, vision and peace. Having to focus on their negativity often leaves us drained, exhausted and dejected. It would be a good idea to lose touch with those who add that burden to your life. If you cannot completely lose touch with them, at least minimize the contact. Fill your life with uplifting, inspiring people. Surrounding yourself with achievers and well wishers will boost your motivation and success rate.

De-clutter your projects

Are you bogged down with so much to do, in so little time? It may be a call to reorganize your projects. Are you doing things that you really enjoy? Are the things you do adding value to anyone? If not, it may be a good idea to drop those projects. Getting tied down with a zillion commitments can take you nowhere fast. Take the time to think of how you utilize each day, and organize your activities. Drop the things that no longer work for you. Delegate your work where applicable. Add more things in your routine that replenish your body, mind and soul. Take time to meditate, read, be with the people you love, create new things, work on your dreams and feed on positive ideas, like the ones you find on this site. ;)

De-clutter your dreams

What is it that you want to do? Are your dreams in sync with your values and ideals? Take an inventory of your dreams. Do you have dreams about other people? Sometimes we get stressed out about what we want out of others. But do we really have a right to demand that? Wouldn't it be better if we were to let go of what we cannot change? As we say in the Serenity Prayer, perhaps we need to accept the things we cannot change, and change the things we can. Likewise, your dreams should not be dictated by others - only you know your true purpose. Find out what it is that you want, out of your life. Once we do that, our dreams often become clearer. Prioritize on what you want to do. Make sure your dreams are in line with your vision of ideal life. When dreams are de-cluttered, the simplicity of it all often amazes us.

Once your possessions, space, contacts, projects and dreams are all aligned perfectly and rhythmically, you can experience the true power within yourself. Life becomes much simpler, and success that much easier. Good luck!
