I have some great news for my readers. I hope you remember my previous post about an article of mine which was plagiarized by another author. I recently found out that another of my articles has also been similarly copied.

I contacted the concerned people in both cases, and I am happy to report that both documents have been taken down.

All the webmasters were really happy to solve the issue, and were serious about the issue of copyright infringement. I am just happy that the matter has been amicably solved.

Cheers!

On plagiarism... 04/28/2009

Recently, I found myself a victim of online plagiarism. One of my articles was quoted verbatim on a scribd document, and no credit was given to me as the author of the work.

I have contacted the author, informing him about the issue. I hope it was an honest mistake and would be corrected soon. I will keep you posted!

This incident has made me look into all the wonderful advice available online about dealing with plagiarism. The most important one seems to be that we should always have some way to prove the date when we wrote the article. It could be just by sending an email to yourself with the content of the article included in the body. I have decided to take that and other steps to protect my articles.

I am perfectly okay with anyone reproducing my articles in part or whole, as long as it is acknowledged as written by me. Anyway, let us hope things settle down fast and we can put this matter behind us soon!

Cheers,
Gayathri.
