Have you ever had a great dream that was going to change your life? You experienced the thrill of starting a project and taking the first baby steps. But then you were told it was too big, too risky or too difficult. You felt you didn’t have the time, or the qualifications or the support system. And you gave up.
Have you ever wondered how different your life would have been if you had completed that special project?
There was once a man named Colonel Sanders, who had a great project just like you. His great project was a fried chicken recipe. He went door to door from restaurant to restaurant. The first one hundred restaurants he tried rejected his idea outright. People made fun of his idea, his recipe and even his white shirt. How many rejections would you take, before you give up?
Colonel Sanders did not give up. He went on to try a thousand restaurants. A thousand doors were knocked upon. And a thousand doors banged shut in his face. How many doors would you knock, before you give up? Read the full article here.
We often find it very hard to give ourselves the respect we deserve. For some reason, we feel that honoring ourselves is not important. We let others dump dirt on us all the time, and take it without comment. We allow people to hurt, manipulate, abuse, disrespect, bully or control us. We take ourselves for granted.
Now, give the following sentence a moment's thought, allow it to fully sink in, before you proceed. Each time we treat ourselves with disrespect or allow others to do so, we are weakening our spirit.
If we are to take control of our own life and live it to the fullest, we need to have a firm foundation. And that foundation is self-respect. Often, the absence of this foundation can cause cracks in your castle of life. It will reflect in your relationships, career, ambitions and more.
Importance of self-respect
When we stand on a solid foundation of self-respect, we are perceived and treated differently. We do not let others manipulate or demean us. Others naturally sense your self-respect, and it translates into respect from them. Haven't you ever experienced meeting someone with a solid self-respect, and immediately feeling the urge to treat them well and with respect? It is the same with everyone. Bullies do not mess with people who stand up for themselves. Abusers stay away from them. Sharp-toothed criticism will not hurt them. They are comfortable in their own skin.
It doesn't matter what life or others throw at you, when you have high self-respect. You always know intuitively how to deal with it. People who respect themselves will not be trampled by anyone or anything. They know that their spirit and their self is special and deserves to be taken care of. Read the full article here.

Anger is one of the top issues faced by mankind as a whole today. An inability to control anger can cause serious damage in our family life, work life and social life. We also often feel guilty after our bursts of anger, leading to a reduced sense of self-esteem.
From our childhood, we need to learn how to manage our anger. But for many of us, this doesn't happen. Some of us are from violent households, or have parents who themselves had anger management issues. It may cause us to feel that it is okay to get angry. And for some of us, our parents might have let us get away with our angry moods in our childhood, which resulted in adjustment problems as an adult.
But whatever the reason, as an adult, it is important to take responsibility. As I always say, it is only when we take responsibility for our actions and behavior that we feel empowered to change them. It doesn't matter why we have an anger management issue, it is important that we need to get a grip on ourselves and tackle the issue once and for all.
When we bring our anger under control, we can experience a marked improvement in our interactions with others. We feel much more peaceful and in control. We will be respected more, and will be able to deal with any situation in a more calm and cool manner, and with better results. Let us discuss some techniques used in anger management. All day today, I kept being bombarded with messages of love. When I was writing an article, the word "love" just popped into my head and commanded me to include it in the article and spread the word. The part of the article about which I am talking included references to my soul. So I guess that is a message from my soul.
When I switched on the TV, I found one of my all-time favorite romantic movies playing - "A walk to remember". That movie is full of the message of love.
And while browsing the internet casually, guess what I come across - a blog post celebrating 25 years of married life. :) Looks like the Universe is telling me something..
I thought about love. About the people I love and the people who love me. About the pets I love. About the places, food, pictures, books, movies and colors I love. I see that our most precious gift is love. I wouldn't be able to write a line here if I didn't love this website and its readers. You wouldn't share it through social bookmarking or leave comments if you didn't love it.
I thought about my parents... The kind of love we share. I thought about all the times I treated them as if I didn't love them, especially as a teenager. Respect should be synonymous with love - we shouldn't be capable of showing disrespect to the people we claim to love. Treating them with respect, performing small thoughtful actions, being kinder than you need to be... all these show the true force of love.
I thought about how anybody could hurt another person they truly love. I wouldn't deserve to claim I love someone if I abused them emotionally, verbally or physically. Once we understand this, we wouldn't let ourselves be caught up in violent or abusive relationships... Our love for ourselves should be strong enough to realize that anybody who constantly abuses us is not a lover.. Maybe the measure of love is just a measure of how far you would go to prevent your loved ones from getting hurt... Our love is our protective charm. Love is our special shield...
If I could spread just one message with my life, it would be to love. Love yourself, your family, your friends, your country, your fellowmen, your teachers, your home, your pets, your planet, your life, your body, your talents, your past, your present, your future...
Today, I have posted a new activity in the Activities page. It is a project called 30-day Challenge Yourself Project.
All great achievers in the world were really good at challenging themselves. They always pushed their limits and went beyond what anybody thought possible. They were masters of the art of competing with themselves.
The 30-day challenge yourself project (CYP) is all about pushing your limits. By completing this project, you would have totally changed the way you see yourself. It is an experiment in personal growth and development.
What?
The 30-day challenge yourself project is a 30-day challenge you take on. On each day, you push yourself to do something beyond your usual comfort zone. It could be rising an hour earlier, working out 30 minutes more, working proactively to complete a project ahead of time, doing yard work you otherwise dislike, meeting new people... It is up to you to decide what to do on each day. The only condition is that we should push ourselves at least once each day. If you have any major goal, this could be the 30 days where you go miles in achieving it. You could set reasonable yet challenging targets for each day, more than you usually do, and keep winning.
